La Catalina Natural Language School is located on the beautiful Pacific coast of Jalisco, Mexico. At only 45 minutes north of the international Manzanillo airport (ZLO) and 3 1/2 hours south of Puerto Vallarta’s airport (PVR), students can easily travel to the school. The popular beach resort towns of Melaque and Barra the Navidad are only 20 minutes away.
In addition to daily classes, La Catalina provides many opportunities to learn Spanish outside of the classroom through activities with the local people such as volunteer work, homestays with Mexican families and cultural events.
We can also arrange guided excursions to local areas of interest, including Barra de Navidad, Manzanillo and Colima. In their free time, students enjoy the sunny weather, beaches and tropical ambiance.
Unlike many Spanish schools, the emphasis is not on grammar, but rather on improving your fluency level through natural and meaningful familiarization of the Spanish language through exposure, usage and right practice.
For more advanced students we use a “practical” grammar approach, allowing students to sharpen their Spanish through focused usage, vs. the traditional “conceptual” grammar approach.
We strive to offer jobs, training and education to the Mexican people. This is part of an on-going effort to create additional opportunities for economic growth and cultural enrichment for the local people. This effort is primarily accomplished by our sister organization, La Catalina Educational Foundation, a non-profit foundation whose mission is to raise the overall education level of the Mexican people to help improve the quality of their lives. Below are some of the ways in which your tuition at La Catalina School goes back to the Mexican community to help in the pursuit of: Education, Training, Work Opportunities
