La Terraza and Casita Bambu

Casita Bambu is an inviting sanctuary, perched above a bodega, across a pleasant courtyard from the main house in a quiet neighbourhood. Constructed innovatively of bamboo, stone, brick and glass, it has a steeply pitched palapa roof from which hangs a fan and a Spanish chandelier. The artfully arranged interior displays unique artifacts collected over a lifetime of travels, and comfortably accommodates a queen-size bed, side chests, desk and chair, and closet, with a charming, tiled ensuite bathroom. The cozy kitchenette, sharing the verandah, where a stove top is housed in a tiled alcove, is neatly equipped. Here, one can enjoy breakfast to the sweet sound of birdsong in the surrounding jungle. The garden below provides access to an outdoor oven and BBQ on the main house patio that you are welcome to use. A laneway, lined with masses of bougainvillaea, meanders below the casita, towards the river glimpsed beyond, continuing for a short (~ 5 minute) walk to the village and beach.

La Terraza Cabalito del Mar (the Seahorse terrace), situated on the upper floor of the main house, is accessed by a separate entrance, with a charming curving staircase. At the top of the stairs, it opens to a wide, sweeping, sunny terrace, directly overlooking the jungle and mountains. The kitchenette, situated at one end of a long verandah, is covered with a wood and tile roof for shade and privacy. It is well outfitted and equipped with a stove with an oven, a microwave and a refrigerator. A hammock and chaise longue invite relaxation, with comfy chairs scattered about and a table and side chairs for mealtimes.

The extra-large bedroom is airy and bright, with multiple patio doors opening to mountain views, offering two double beds, a large closet and a sitting area with a desk. Ceiling fans provide cooling. A sunny, yellow tiled bathroom shares a massive stone wall with the bedroom, while Mexican art and artifacts enhance this lovely terrace apartment. A short (~5 min) walk along flat terrain takes you to the village and the beach.
