In most of the expat-owned restaurants, the wait staff speaks English. However, at the taco stands, tiendas (grocery stores), and palapa restaurants on the beach, Spanish is the main spoken language. This is part of the charm of La Manzanilla, but it’s changing quickly as more and more tourists find their way here! People are friendly; don’t be embarrassed to give your Spanish a try. Word to the wise: Speaking English louder and slower will not make them understand you better.
